About ArtPlantae
ArtPlantae is a resource provider whose focus is encouraging an interest in plants through drawing. Its aim is to address issues in botanical literacy by connecting artists, naturalists and educators so they can learn from each other and then teach others.
You are invited to search the pages of this growing resource and to browse the shelves at ArtPlantae Books, a companion resource specializing in books about botanical art history, botanical art instruction, botany, plant identification, economic botany, and natural history.
Readers are invited to take a few moments to complete the Reader’s Survey. Tell us what you want to learn!
About Tania Marien
ArtPlantae was created by Tania Marien. Tania has an Interdisciplinary Studies masters degree (Biology & Student Learning) and a bachelors degree in Biology. She taught biology as an adjunct faculty member for five years at three California colleges. A long-time admirer of botanical art, Tania began studying botanical art in 2001.
Tania’s interest in student learning was established in graduate school when she took on the task of improving the D & F rate of a large-lecture general biology class for majors. Today she channels the curiosity and the energy she has for student learning into independent research dedicated to increasing botanical literacy through illustration and interpretation.
