ArtPlantae encourages an interest in plants through art, science and interpretation. Through this website, ArtPlantae connects artists, naturalists and educators so they can learn from each other and encourage an interest in plants in their own classrooms and creative projects.
About Tania Marien
Tania has an Interdisciplinary Studies Master’s degree in Biology & Student Learning. She has introduced the public to plants and botanical art at the Fullerton Arboretum, Virginia Robinson Gardens, J. Paul Getty Museum, Bowers Museum, Growcology, Roger’s Gardens, Riverside Art Museum and Upward Bound for Math and Science. She leads hands-on activities at environmental education events and leads occasional in-class field trips at local elementary schools.
Tania was the founding editor of The Southern California Botanical Artist and the newsletter Artists’ Botany which became the foundation for the ArtPlantae Today website. She has presented at the conferences of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators and the American Society of Botanical Artists.
Interested in interpretive techniques about plants, investigating how people make meaning and how drawing can be used as a learning tool, Tania explores these topics at ArtPlantae and in her practice teaching in informal learning environments.

Exhibition Catalogs at ArtPlantae
ArtPlantae is proud to introduce new audiences to the exhibition catalogs of the American Society of Botanical Artists (ASBA) and the Alisa and Isaac M. Sutton Collection. Both catalogs are available at ArtPlantae’s store on the Square Market.
A portion of each sale of an ASBA catalog is donated to the American Society of Botanical Artists, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting public awareness of contemporary botanical art, to honoring its traditions, and to furthering its development. Learn more about the ASBA at http://www.asba-art.org.
