Botanical Art Society of the National Capital Region
The Botanical Art Society of the National Capital Region (BASNCR) is committed to education in the botanical arts. They provide a variety of educational opportunities through meetings, field trips and workshops to members and artists in the vicinity of Washington, D. C.

Brookside Gardens School of Botanical Art & Illustration Certificate Program (Maryland)
This program offers classes in botanical drawing, botanical painting, introductory botany, as well as classes specializing in specific art techniques and plant groups. Learn More
Corcoran College of Art & Design
The only college of art and design in Washington, DC also offers a certificate program in botanical art and illustration. Classes include introductory courses in botanical drawing, botanical painting and specialty classes such as Plant Portraits in Oil and Medieval Illumination.

United States Botanic Garden (USBG)
The U.S. Botanic Garden was established in 1820 and is managed by the U.S. Congress. The garden serves as a living plant museum. The Corcoran College of Art & Design has partnered with the USBG and offers a certificate in botanical art and illustration through the garden. Roses and vellum were meant to go together. Capturing color and texture of petal and leaf on a warm, translucent surface will yield rich and lifelike rose portraits. Learn drybrush techniques in watercolor on vellum through demonstrations and practice using roses from the collections at the US Botanic Garden or Brookside Gardens.
