Botanical Art Society of the National Capital Region
The Botanical Art Society of the National Capital Region (BASNCR) is committed to education in the botanical arts. They provide a variety of educational opportunities through meetings, field trips and workshops to members and artists in the vicinity of Washington, D. C.

Botanical Artists for Education & The Environment
The Botanical Artists for Education & The Environment (BAEE) is a non-profit organization in Falls Church, VA created by a dedicated group of botanical artists in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Members wrote and illustrated American Botanical Paintings: Native Plants of the Mid Atlantic.
Botanical Watercolor Class By Anne-Marie Evans
Anne-Marie Evans returns in September 2015 to Falls Church, Virginia, to teach another of her popular classes in botanical art. Class space is limited. Classes expected to fill quickly.
This two-week class will concentrate first on gaining intimate familiarity with the plant, sketching it from many different aspects while striving for botanical accuracy. Then, students will practice various arrangements using the individual sketches to make an effective composition. Finally, they will proceed to paint application, using Anne-Marie’s six-step method. We regret that we cannot accept registration for a single week.
This two-week session will be held September 21 – 25, 2015 and September 28 – October 2, 2015 (10 am – 3 pm, daily).

Brookside Gardens School of Botanical Art & Illustration Certificate Program (Maryland)

Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden
In 1884, Lewis Ginter purchased some property and built a gathering place for Richmond bicyclists. One hundred years later, the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden was established on this same piece of property and soon became one of the top five destinations in Virginia. The Garden is home to Artbase a searchable database containing 2,500 botanical watercolor paintings by Alexandre Descubes. The Adult Education program at the garden includes workshops in botanical drawing and painting and a certificate program in botanical illustration.
The program also includes an Art in the Garden series that encompasses drawing, sketching, knitting.

Fall Nature Journal Class

Learn how to keep your own nature journal. Instructor Linda Miller will demonstrate ways of journal-keeping including drawing flora, making quick landscape studies and nature poetry. No experience necessary. Please bring your own journal, pencil, and a small package of colored markers.

Painting Fall Leaves in Watercolor

Learn how to draw and paint fall leaves. Instructor will provide watercolor paper. Please bring your own journal, pencil and watercolor paints.
