Christine Elder is a naturalist, environmental educator and biological illustrator living in Bend, Oregon. Ms. Elder’s formal education includes a graduate certificate in Scientific Illustration from the University of California and Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Biology from California State University. She has developed a variety of nature sketching workshops for both adults and youth that she teaches throughout the year at Arts Central in Bend, Oregon. Jeanne Debons Studio
Botanist and botanical illustrator, Jeanne Debons, teaches small student-focused painting workshops at her Oregon studio. Dr. Debons received her Ph.D. in the Department of Botany and Plant Pathology at Oregon State University. She graduated from the diploma course in Botanical Painting at the English Gardening School in 2005.
Botanical Painting Workshops
Learn the fundamentals of botanical painting in watercolor, including an introduction to necessary supplies, drawing and painting techniques, composition, choosing and mixing colors, creating colors, and more. Work with the group to learn a multi-step method that helps you master specific skills required, or bring a project you are working on and get help and advice. This is an opportunity to learn the techniques required to capture botanical subjects on paper in a series of straightforward steps.

Quinn is an artist, a musician, and a graduate of the Natural Science Illustration Program at the University of Washington. His specialties include wild cats, raptors, wild edible plants, and medicinal plants. His chosen media are graphite, watercolor, gouache, colored pencil, and photography. He teaches workshops in botanical illustration in Washington, Oregon and Colorado.
A 187-acre arboretum with 21 trails totaling 12 miles in length. Home to a collection of more than 1,000 species of trees and other plants. Researchers have kept continuous records of the plants growing in the arboretum. The Hoyt Arboretum Plant Inventory Guide has information on over 8,000 plants. It is available to the public for free.
Leach Botanical Garden
A 16-acre garden in southeast Portland. Formerly the private garden of botanist Lilia Leach and her husband pharmacist John Leach, the garden features over 2,000 species of plants and hosts special events and workshops year-round.
Andie is a painter and book artist devoted to creative work in wild places. She teaches in California, Oregon and Hawaii. Her work is widely exhibited and honored, and is held in many private and public collections. View Andie’s 2012 IN FORESTS calendar at her Etsy store.

Vorobik Botanical Art
Linda Ann Vorobik, Ph.D. is a botanical illustrator and botanist who teaches at the Jepson Herbarium at UC Berkeley, conducts field research in the Siskiyou Mountains in Oregon and teaches botanical illustration in California, Oregon, Washington and Hawaii.
